Elon Musk’s X testing game streaming, live shopping features

On Oct. 2, Elon Musk posted a video on X (formerly Twitter), saying that he tested the “X video streamer system last night” and confirmed that “it works.”

In the past, Musk had expressed that he intended for X to become an “everything app” as part of its rebranding from Twitter. As part of the plan, the chairman of X Corp is now testing the platform’s video game streaming and live shopping features.

A few hours after announcing that the video game streaming works, Musk streamed the Nightmare dungeon game on X in a video that lasted nearly 40 minutes.

In an online declaration, Musk stated that the platform would also serve as a core platform for written messages while incorporating audio, video, financial transactions, e-commerce, and additional functions.

Meanwhile, X is one step closer to facilitating cryptocurrency payments after obtaining its license to send and receive money. The currency transmitter license was approved by Rhode Island regulators on Aug. 28, according to the National Multistate Licensing System (NMLS).

The license is a basic legal requirement for financial companies that send and receive money on behalf of customers, whether the assets used are fiat or crypto assets.

The new approval comes almost two months after regulators in Michigan, Missouri, and New Hampshire approved the application submitted by X to obtain a license to send and receive money.

Although it remains unclear what financial offers and payment features the platform will provide, a Jan. 30 Financial Times report indicated that the platform plans to initially offer fiat payment services, with expansion in the future to include cryptocurrencies.

Musk said that “if done right,” X could become a popular platform for finance, banking, payments, and data, potentially becoming “half of the global financial system” over time.
