Crypto influencer Ben Armstrong, formerly known as “BitBoy,” has been hit with two charges following his arrest while live-streaming outside the house of a former business associate.
Armstrong has been charged with “loitering/prowling” and “simple assault by placing another in fear,” according to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office website. The bond amount is $2,600 with additional fees of $40.
On Sept. 26, Armstrong filmed himself at the home of consultant and non-fungible token (NFT) investor Carlos Diaz, who is believed to have ties to the Hit Network. The crypto influencer alleged that Diaz was in possession of his Lamborghini. Furthermore, Armstrong claimed that Diaz “wanted to kill him” and that he had links with the Houston mafia.
Police later came to the scene to arrest Armstrong, with the influencer eventually spending over eight hours in custody. He was later released released on bail, according to the Gwinnett County, Georgia, Sheriff’s Office.
On the same day, Diaz confirmed that Armstrong apparently turned up at his house.
If found guilty of prowling and loitering, Armstrong would be fined up to $1,000, jail time up to one year, or both, according to Georgia law firm Lawson & Berry.
Meanwhile, simple assault can involve: “(1) attempt to commit a violent injury to the person of another, or (2) commit an act which places another in reasonable apprehension of immediately receiving a violent injury.”
